“Byzantium: Splendour and Everyday Life” (Byzanz- Pracht und Alltag)
Shipwrecks found in Yenikapı Excavations met with culture and art enthusiasts within the exhibition called “Byzantium: Splendour and Everyday Life” (Byzanz- Pracht und Alltag) in the city of Bonn, Germany between the dates of 25 February – 13 June 2010.
In the exhibition at the Federal Art Hall organized by Römisch-Germanisches Zentralmuseum (RGZM), more than 600 artifact dating to the Byzantium Period will be on display. Head of the Istanbul University Yenikapı Shipwrecks Project and member of the Consultative Committee Assoc. Prof. Ufuk Kocabaş; included Yenikapı Shipwrecks in the title “Excavations at the Harbour of Theodosius Found in Istanbul” in the “Bergama and Monemvasia Hall”. In the exhibition full scale reproduction of Yenikapı 12 shipwreck was on display. The exhibition under protectorate of President Abdullah Gül and the President of Germany Horst Köhler, is about culture, art, science, religion and social life in different periods of Byzantium.
