After the excavation work was completed in 2010, conservation work has begun in 2012. Conservation process of large portion of the timbers from the YK 36 Shipwrecks was completed with the Melamine formaldehyde (Kauramin) method which was used on waterlogged wood for the first time in Turkey by Istanbul University experts.  After the Kauramin impregnation to the majority of the shipwreck timbers which had advanced deterioration, a specially made 10 meter long oven was used for drying processes. Impregnation and drying processes of other timbers are expected to be completed in the upcoming days.
